I have two horses, my mare Star, and my paint colt who has no name at the moment. And then my boyfriends gelding, Shotgun. Star and Shotgun are broke but the paint colt is only halter broke.
Star was my first horse and was a rescue case, she was 2 but only looked like a yearling, she has a big scar on her forehead and is missing the tips of her ears. She is my sweet girl, good with kids and everything.
Shotgun and the paint colt are fairly new so don't really know their personalities yet.

Star.

So glad you rescued your mare! :D A lot of horse owners are not willing to take a chance on a horse whose down on their luck. Your horses look healthy and happy!

I run a business of buying and retraining to sell OTTBs (off track thoroughbreds) for the Hunter/Eventing ring. I also pick up horses from our local livestock auction ring where slaughter buyers visit too. :D

Thank you all! They are my babies.

This is what Star looked like the day I got her.

The people I got her from "rescued" her from an auction house, but I guess they didn't know how to take care of a horse or something so they decided to place her in a new home and I was lucky enough to get her. I wouldn't trade her for the world, its amazing how rewarding it is to rescue an animal and the bond that can be gained from it. :-)

Awww, she's cute. The missing ear tips just make her that much endearing (no pun intended...) and I'm always happy to hear a rescue story that goes right.

I live by a rescue ranch- I love seeing the horses/animals there that have a healing chance at finding a new home.

A few years ago I was working with Animal Control when a trailer of horses overturned on Hwy 44 just outside of town. I got to go out to see what I could do- and then of course since I live right near Longmeadow Rescue Ranch I got to see and help with the horses during their recovery time.

This is the ranch

Wow! Beauties! I wish I had a farm with lots of animals. Is that a border collie in your avatar?
