Woah I had no idea they sold them, but I avoid them as much as possible (Petco). Original price 49.99? Wow for a Petco betta... You could find a really nice one for that price from a good breeder. Oh Petco... Crazy

Someone had mentioned before about this and either they or someone else chimed in and said they got one mismarked for a good price.

I think they are cool but I wouldn't even think about spending that much at least not on a store bought one.

I bought one a while back at my local Petco that looks almost exactly like that one. It was labeled Halfmoon Plakat at $12.99. This is not the best picture but he's a Salamander Halfmoon Big Ear that I was excited to have since they go for so much on Aquabid. Posted Image

I got one at Petco that was labeled as just a delta tail and I got him for $7.99(I think). I thought I was dreaming. Too bad I had such a problem with dividing my tank which resulted in his untimely death. :cry1: I ALWAYS look at their stock to see what deal I can get cause they are constantly mislabling them. LOL

I would not pay that much($30-50) for one at Petco when I can get a good one from a breeder for that price.

That price is ridiculous considering they come from mass-producers. At least if you find a good Aquabid breeder, they are breeding for healthy stock and not just throwing random fish together, possibly even ones past their prime, to breed.

My local Petco had a few recently. I looked at them but in the end decided against them. Two days later I went back to get some dog related stuff and I noticed that those bettas were gone already.

The huge males (kings, or giants?) were also gone as well. I guess someone jumped on that pretty quickly!

The "Kings" are almost always half giants, or regular plakats. I know my closest Petco sells regular sized plakats as "kings".

I've seen a couple and they always seem to have at least a little more trouble moving where they want to. Seems rather sad to me.
