I have a snail problem in my 10 gal. The snails literally appeared out of no where. I have not added anything new to that tank in 8 months, but I have moved it to a new house and only half drained it. That is why I was waiting for--> I had a nice layer of algae, because I was gonna get otto cats. Then poof!!! snails are every where. Since my betta died all I have in there are 3 kuhli loaches.
I heard that puffers do a really good job at making them gone, plus than I can have a fish that moves.

Do you have any ideas for something to help with my snails. I am worried about my plants.

Simply don't overfeed and remove uneaten food promptly and your snails will reduce in number.

What kind of snails? They may not be plant-eating ones.

I am not currently at home, I have 2 weeks left at school, I just noticed these over Easter, so no pictures, sorry.

They are small clearish, none of them are currently larger than 1 cm. They have pointed shells. As I said before I have a very thick mat of algae that in less than 3 weeks is completely gone. It was mostly green, but there was some brown.

They are fairly active during the day, and not scared off by light.

I don't know how much less I can feed them. I only give each Kuhli one shrimp pellet every 1-2 days. so three pellets total.

Once they get a bit bigger, you should be able to identify them more easily.

If you're not overfeeding, they won't overpopulate your tank, so you may have to cut back farther. Is someone at home overfeeding them? I take it that if you're away from your tank now, someone else must be taking care of them...

My brother is, but he also spends a lot of time working with his tank. So he understands not overfeeding them.

I have him on plant watch too, so if pieces start missing he can try to save them.

I'll wait until I get home and see what happens with them.
