After more conditioning and getting the IAL from Amy (wonderful leaves!), I've released my first pair together. It's been a few hours now, I've added a huge plant about an hour ago as the male is getting a bit bite-y. She has some scales missing and I'm unsure if I should keep them in together for the night?

She is barred up still, just resting round the top, not really engaging with the male. He leaves her alone for a while and tends to his big nest he built so I may try to leave her in tonight.

Here's a couple of vids, the first is of the nest the male built today and of the female in the chimney, the second vid is of the pair together, just released the female and he's showing off.

He started to get real viscious at the end of that vid so I placed the big plant in the tank, I'll try to take a pic of it as it takes up a good chunk of the tank and she's able to hide between a lot of the leaves.

Here's a pic of each of them:

Well she's missing a couple chunks of fins this morning, she still has breeding bars though.

She was hiding in the plant, kind of laying sideways but it's a little tight where she was laying. She came out when I moved the plant slightly, he got her under the nest as I watched but she didn't put her nose down, he started getting nippy again.

Is he too aggressive? Should I seperate for a bit?

its a tough call to make. if she has breeding bars, she probably is only superficially injured, but she might get seriously injured from the male if he keeps being aggressive.
if you have a back-up female, id switch them out. if not, then id give them some more time.

Sounds good, she's still hiding in the plant and I believe that she probably has been in there all day. I do have a back up girl so I'll try her out tonight in the chimney

I ended up swapping them out for a different pair, I'd really like the original pair to mate so I'll just recondition them and try again.

I have my copper marble big ears pair going at the same time, this is their second go together after more reconditioning and the male is much nicer, actually almost too nice lol. They've been together for just over a day now and this morning I got to watch them dance under the bubblenest (stole bubbles from a different male because this guy was too lazy to make one lol). I tried to get video, it shows the dancing but I couldn't get close enough, this pair is so inquisitive whenever I come around, they ignore eachother and glass dance for me.
So unfortunately I won't be taking video of them and will be sneaky about watching so that I don't disturb them.
