So I just spotted my second unwanted hitch hiker last night. I had found an emerald crab about a month ago and got him our and returned to the store that day. Last night I found a little fuzzy white crab in a nook in one of my rocks. I can't hey an id on it and I can't seem to get it. Any tips on how to catch him? I'm about to just take the rock out and try to dig into it to get him out. Also, is it safe to try and grab little crabs by hand? It's maybe .5 inches across is not less. Can a crab this small actually hurt of it pinches you? I feel ill have a better shot picking him out by hand than using a net.

Put some food in a bottle, submerge it near the crab and wait for him to walk in and chow down, may take a little time but ive seen and heard of it working.

What else is in the tank with him btw? You can also string a piece of shrimp or fish and just wait for him to grab it(assuming hes carnivourous and not a filter feeder). Then just drag him out and net him in one quick swoop. This is salt water ill assume so no crab on my end XD

I ended up just picking the little bigger off the rock with my fingers. not too hard actually. It saw my fingers and ran to them and clung on for dear life. Lol. I got an I'd on it now too. A little gorilla crab. It's maybe a quarter inch from tip to tip of the legs. Really tiny. And the funny part is she's a mommy. Lol. Has a nice cluster of red eggs on her belly. It has me a little worried though since I haven't added anything new in a while I'm wondering if there is a male in there I haven't found yet. Guess ill be keeping a close eye in the tank for a while to see if he boyfriend comes looking for her. Lol
