I got a 2.5g wave front tank from wal mart and since the smallest tank I have put a Betta in is a 5g so is the 2.5g ok for a betta

A 2.5 is okay for a betta, just keep in mind you'll have to change the water more frequently due to the smaller tank size. :)

Yes, a 2.5 gallon tank is big enough for a betta. You'll have to resist the urge to add anything else, but bettas seem to prefer to be alone in their tanks.

Surprisingly, though, smaller tanks require more maintenance and stricter monitoring than large tanks. Make sure you do your homework before getting started.

You should do 100% water change once a week with a 2.5 gallon tank.
