Well, I'm considering my attempt at a nicely planted tank for the geckos to be a failure. I've got as much light as I can fit on top of the tanks, but the substrate never stays moist and the plants end up just sort of not doing anything. So I took most of them out today from Raptor and Drake's tanks and put in some fake stuff. I'm just wondering if you guys think that what I've got in there now is enough cover wise(I'm probably going to add at least one more branch to Drake's tank) or if I should add more into them.

I've still got a potted ivy in each of them, just to see if I can get it to spread a bit on the background(knowing that they'll probably beat it up) and the terra cotta pots on the left have an anthurium, a small orchid and a couple of freshly cut bromeliad pups in them to see if they'll grow. Also, their food/water dishes are being washed at the moment, hence why they aren't in there ;)

I would have more coverage up at the top.

More like this? I'll probably get some flowers tonight(Michael's had a lot on clearance) and chop the tops off for some more bottom cover, but is this in the right direction? Thank you for the advice :)

If the live plants have recently been purchased, rinse them WELL (don't drown them, rinse the leaves) as anything from a greenhouse is regularly sprayed with pesticides.

Unless you have a lot of air flow in the tank, the orchid won't do well.

As long as they absolutely cannot get behind the fibre background it looks pretty good :)

They actually sleep behind the background(I'm saving up to get some tree fern panels or possibly some epi-web if I can find it for a decent price). I was considering taking all but the ivy out earlier this morning anyway. The clay pots aren't wicking water up very well it seems with the reservoir as short as it is and since they were rescue 'chids from box store half-dead racks I figured they'd prefer a bit more water. Ah well, no huge loss from that experiment since the ones on my kitchen windowsill like it enough to bloom I suppose.

You'll rot the orchids if you have them sitting in water, they need to dry out regularly.
