I'm not sure if this was posted so forgive me if it was.

There is now a recall on ALL Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro heaters. Before there was just a recall on the larger ones but it's been changed to all wattages.

Aquarium Heaters Recalled by United Pet Group Due to Fire and Laceration Hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro Aquarium Heaters

Units: About 1.2 million

Importer: United Pet Group, of Cincinnati, Ohio

Hazard: A wiring problem can cause the aquarium heaters to overheat or break during normal use, damaging the aquarium and posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers. Overheating can cause the heater to shatter or the aquarium glass to break.

Incidents/Injuries: United Pet Group has received 38 reports of fires resulting in property damage and 45 reports of broken aquarium glass. United Pet Group has received one report of a consumer who suffered an eye injury when the aquarium heater forcefully broke while he held it.

Description: The recall involves the following Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro aquarium heaters. The heaters are black plastic tubes and have a temperature adjustment knob at the top. The model name "Stealth" (in white letters) or "Stealth Pro" (in red letters) is printed on the side of the heater. The model number and the wattage rating are printed below the model name. Stealth Pro heaters were also sold as part of aquarium starter kits.

I'm screwed :( I have 4 of these heaters running now.. two of them are in spawning tanks where spawns are under way. I have to try to figure out how to get replacements before tomorrow since I'm working then travelling home for a quick easter with the fam.

Ahh shoot. Does this apply to older ones too? Mine is two years old now.

How do we go about getting a replacement? Do I have to pay for a new one? :/

I'm guessing it's all heaters regardless of year. The link says to get in touch with Marineland for a replacement or refund but since they're on vacation  We're all SOL for the weekend.

Hydor Theo are my favorite. I'm hoping I can afford those with what I get back from these heaters.

Ah man, they don't have a 25W. Any that will fit a 2.5g?

Honestly, I've never had issues with my Stealth... but I'm still having it replaced as long as they're paying for it. Ha.

Ugh, I've had mine for a good 3 years now without issue, and I currently have three of these heaters running. I'd rather safe than sorry, though, so I guess I'll start checking out the prices on the Hydor Theos...

I had a 200W stealth that just quit working after 4 years of service. Luckily my lazy butt didn't throw it away. I just found it LOL woohoo new free heater.
