I would go with shellies if your wanting to do African (old world) cichilds. Check out Apistogrammas and do a search on shellies. Nothing bigger would work though.

shellies.. like keyhole chiclids, i hear their very nice and fun to keep. Apistogramas are the family with the more comon dwarf chiclids so im with hippie. Also my brother used to have these blue johanni chiclids... i loved them.

I'm a sucker for convicts for medium tanks.

If you had a bigger tank and don't mind bare-bottom I would suggest

Thanks. I am going to get some Black Neon Tetras for the tank untill I am ready for the rams. I am going to buy a RO system for water changes. I will not be getting the rams for at least 6 months.

EDIT: I have dicided to go with this stocking. I forgot the size of my tank so I just used the size it gave on the site for a 30g

i wouldnt do that. Too many hatchets and black neons togather imo. They both share the same water regions. Plus thats realy way to many. I would cut down to about 12 black neon, 8 hatchets and 6 kuhli. also other than neon you can get harlequin rasy, gold barbs wich are a schooling fish that school on the bottom mid area, i highly recomend them being that i have never met a more peaceful barb.

Oh yeah, that's way too much, especially if you're planning to get rams in the future! The gold barbs are actually really peaceful and actually make a nice color contrast with the black neons. The hatchets and the neons would end up fighting for space if you get them together.

Yes indeed. Black neons against golds are very nice.(the store had them togather). Also, if you get hatchies dont forget to get a very fit lid or they will jump.

Not hardley, use it as a basic and then bring your resaults here an we will finne tune them. Dont just use it to stock a tank flat out. It cant reason. And its not very good on agression although it knows the basics of wich fish can be with wichever.
