im new with the whole plakat(roundtail) betta deal so im not sure if i have a male or female. im sure i got a male but it doesnt flare at my hm betta so thats what has me confused.iv been trying to get some decent pictures but the flash just ruins it.

If it's a plakat, it's a male. Females have much shorter and more rectangle-shaped anal fins.

Welcome to UB, by the way :) If that little thing is his current tank, I'd highly recommend an upgrade. That's only 1/2 gallon, and he should be in a 1 gallon tank at the absolute minimum (2 gallons or more is ideal though.)

Looks like my "female" and that turned out to be a male. So yeah, I'd say male. He's cute!

i have a 2 1/2gal tank waiting for him. just need a couple of things to get it setup then ill post some pictures. thanks for all the help

hes also been changing color. well not changing colors but sometimes in the morning hes lighter then at night darker. any reason why?

He's probably just stressed and when they are stressed they turn lighter and when there happy they get their colors back. This is what my plakat did when i first got him after settling in he should be fine.
