Okay, I didn't notice it before but my betta seems to have discoloration around the head with looks kind of like patchiness, i went back to an old photo and it now looks like he might have velvet. I shined a small light on him and didn't see anything, but the photos kind of look like little gold dust. His head seems to b changing colors now so I dunno. I need some professional opinions!
He is in good quality, heated, water, no amonia levels detected I do frequent water changes. I have only had him about three weeks or so it isn't from neglect. i really don't want to give him the maracine I bought, but I don't want him to be in danger.

No change in appetite but his color and appearence is changing, his skin looks a bit patchy. please help!

i am not experinced enough to diagnose ur betta but i had the same experince with one of my bettas he seems to have gold sparkling coloring to him, turned out to just be his coloring, very pretty under flashlight , velvet looks like some poured a lot of dust on ur betta, yours dosnt appear to look like the pics i have seen of bettas with velvet.

I'll try and get new picks, but his color has changed even more, he's looking more greenish with a whitich (not fuzzy) spot near his eye, looks like his delicate skin is peeling, could it be chilodonella?
btw, it was maracide that a bought, not maracyn.

Has he been rubbing on his tank decor or darting around like he's trying to get away from it? Another indication of those parasites would be that he would appear stressed and have clamped fins. Any of that?

He is acting pretty normal, but today it seems like his discoloration is worse. one week ago he had a pretty white spot near his eye, now his gills and face look grey and discolored, big change. my digital cam is down, but I have searched the web and every fish book i have and it doesn't seem like any other disease, except maybe early stages of hole in the head disease.

Well, if he's not acting itchy or anything we can rule out velvet. Does it look like the betta in this post: http://www.ultimateb...showtopic=34300?
