As we all know...most poetry is written in sadness...when most people are the most emotional and creative...so...mine is quite obviously written in this manner.....keep in mind that anything I post in this thread is from AT LEAST 2 years ago...and I am happier now. :P :D

Feel free to post anything you have written here...besides, writing is art also! :)

Here we go! :weirdo:

I walk through endless water
And reach out for your hand
You always take me places I never thought I would stand
I pretend for a moment
That you can hear everything I am thinking
And I pray someday I will walk on the moon
Standing so far away from all of the things that could ever hurt
And bringing with me the things that I love and lost too soon
Two years of rain
And still remember when the sun
Wasn’t so shy to shine upon my face
A dreamer chasing a dream
Hoping only for a taste of peace
That only one soul could replace
You always took me places I never thought I would stand
And still
I walk through endless water
And wait for you
To hold out your hand.

My poems are somewhat depressing too, and written several years back. I'll start off with one that is very important to me.

Chariot of Doves

Sitting on your chariot of doves
Silver stars shine all around
Looking like diamonds in the sky
As you fly away
Looking back and smiling
Seeing all who love you
The tears fall from your eyes
Little stars the become
Shining bright, looking on
You see all of us cry
You wish us not to
Gently rubbing our backs
With your smooth-skinned hands
Kissing our tears away
Soothing the stinging ache in our hearts
Your love for us will never die
It will stay in our hearts
Off you go again
On your chariot of doves
Blowing us kisses as you head Home
Giving us love and stars along the way...

Name: Why did you do it?

Words:
Oh why, oh why?
I thought you loved me!
Now...Now I'm in a truck
Being sent off to a slaughter
House for me to be eaten!
WHY?! WHY!? I was a beautiful
Horse, I loved to run and play.
You loved me and I loved you.
But now you don't?! I'am now dead.
You'll never see me again. I'm in
Heaven now with God, and He'll take
Care of me, and He'll love me.
Why did you do it?!
I will miss you forever.

An imitative poem in the style of Robert Herrick written for a class. Based off of the actions of Zheng upon first seeing poor, bloated Meriwether.

The Courting

I thought my neighbor a goddess,
And thusly, I sought to impress.
By flirting with striped fins and tail
My brilliant colors would avail
To win the beauty’s heart and mind
I thought, and so did act in kind.
The lady was less than impressed
At my display of wantonness;
To my every flare and sigh,
The lady turned away blind eyes.
Twisting my torso in delight
Did not inspire a lover’s sight,
Even my gallant bubble nest
Was met with pure indifference.
It was then I found (alas!)
My lady was pure lad, not lass!

Ahhh, that one's so old that I had forgotten it. Looking it over, I think that it needs a bit of editing so that the emotions will be clearer.

Requiem for a departed lover

The stars are shining tonight.
It’s the first time that they’ve shone since you died.
It was cloudy that night- do you remember?
Just as it was cloudy the night we met,
When we lifted our faces for the kisses of the spring-sweet rain.
We couldn’t see the stars then,
But you knew that they were there,
And you told me stories about them.
Then, the next night, they were out in all their glory,
And you were able to show me the stories that you had told,
Sitting on that grass-covered hummock.
We made love under those stars,
Kissed, cried, held hands, promised ourselves forever and a lifetime
To enjoy them in.
The stars were dim that night when I glanced up,
Alone, walking home from the hospital where you had been admitted.
An accident- they knew and they hid their lights in shame.

It stormed the night that you died.
And it rained for days after,
The heavens mourning your passing.
I left fresh flowers every day,
Though it was impossible to tell my tears from the sky’s.
And, tonight, I had to come out here to speak to you,
Come out to the hummock, not your grave,
Since I can feel you here, not there.
And I think that the stars know,
Since tonight my tears are alone.

Here's one of mine:

Hollow City

Let the silver blossom fade from its cracked pedestal
And fall to countless crystal shards,
The alabaster elephants so wrinkled wander
Through the dreamless bleak mayhem,
And the chained eagle cry as she glides over the burning viridian sun,
To stay in realms greater than this doomed dominion.

And let our holy blood flow through the stone walled roads
Down to the parched river where our mighty nectar mingles
With leaping, haunted currents
Who cajole and jest,
And wonder what we have done to earn our unrest.

It is time to raise our brittle hands
And lift ourselves from these wrathful sands
And turn our vast domed heads to all who
Dare to look upon our secret shame
And forget to speak our holiest of names.

From the shadows so few shall cross
To the sunlight that burns through our crimson skies,
It is time to raise our flashing eyes
And to unseal pallid, golden lips
To sing of our undying glory
While we meander silent through ancient chasms, ah --
To revel in this world of hollow stone.

But now we are alone.

I wrote this about a year ago. it needs more verses in the middle, but like all of my little works this one is still in progress

The Pearl Moon-

Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine
suns oppressive gaze departs these the last hours of spring
Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine
carnal passions whip us to frenzy, tonight we dance and sing
Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine
in rapturous intoxication, our inhibitions hang on but a string
Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine
summers cruel eye opens to the world, we all feel it's sting
Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine
imbibe your last, await the night, for she bears our next fling
Drink deep the wine, beneath the pearl moon's shine

Here is one of mine. It's one poem but the parts that are off to the right some are another poem if you read just them.

Listen.
Listen to the silent screams.

The silent screams,

That shoot down the silent hall,
As the clock strikes the hour.

Listen.
Listen to the silent cries.

The silent cries,

That echo down the silent hall.
Let the feeling pass.

Before.

Before you listen again.

Listen.
Listen to the silent tears.

The silent tears,

That roll down pale white cheeks,
As it becomes real.

Listen.
Listen to the final gasp of air.

The final gasp,

Before death takes hold.
Listen one last time.

Listen.
Listen to the silent thud of death.

The silent thud.

That hangs still in the silent hall,

The silent hall of death.

I found one that I wrote a few years back, after watching a documentary on elephants and their behaviour, especially when they mourn.

She peers through the gossamer mist
Her glittering eyes so wise and brown
And the shadows of birds silently wheel
As she kneels and bows her noble head down.
The rain glistens between her lashes
Droplets mingled with sorrow and fear
As she touches the bones so stark and so white
And the dust is moistened with pachyderm tears.
So long has she wandered,
With her great herd
And they spoke to each other
With secretive words
Of the loss of one child
So long ago
Beside the great river
She once remembered.

FALLEN

I just don't care anymore,
and I never will again.
I've given up on my hopes,
I feel like its the end.
I feel so very small,
as if I don’t even matter at all.
I wish somebody would lend out a hand,
and save me from this fall.
So deeply I have fallen,
into this abyss.
There is nothing left that I loved,
nothing left to kiss.
No falling star has come,
no way to make my wish.
There is no beauty that I can see
nor any to take in, to fish.
All my dreams have been shattered,
My dreams are all gone.
And I do not know,
How much longer I can go on.

DAGGERS

These memories are like daggers,
they pierce me until I bleed.
They are causing me suffering,
off which, they feed.
These memories will not leave,
they will not go away.
I think these memories have come back
with intention to stay.
They will keep piercing me,
and cause me more pain.
They make every day feel,
as if it’s going to rain.
They enter my dreams,
so silently they creep.
To bring hellish nightmares,
into my sleep.
I don’t know why they've come here,
or what they are here for.
But they will continue to pierce me,
until I can’t bleed, anymore.

GOODBYE

As a tear fell from my eye,
I knew i had to cry
For it was today
that i had to pay
for something in which i lie
Now all i have left to say..
is goobye...
